ENVIRONMENTAL AND NAUTICAL CODE OF GOOD CONDUCT

Mont-Tremblant, November 2011

The purpose of the present Protocol is to improve the measures for the protection and conservation of the bodies of water.  It promotes the integration of four (4) fundamental concepts, namely, the sustainability of bodies of water, their accessibility, peaceful enjoyment, and safety of the users.

Ensure sustainability

In order to ensure the protection of stream banks, the shoreline and environmental sustainability, navigation and motorized nautical activities must be performed in the middle of the lake, as much as possible.

Prior to launching a boat, it must be washed and you must obtain a certificate issued by the accredited washing station.

Boaters must bear off perpendicularly from the shore.

Navigation in a circular pattern is not authorized

The minimum distance from the shoreline for the practice of water skiing is 60 metres, and for wakeboarding and wakeskating it is 100 metres.

It is mandatory to empty the ballast tanks after each boat outing.

All towing activities are prohibited in the bays, within a distance of 100 metres from the shore.  Boating is strictly forbidden in the Baie Charron, Baie des Ours and Baie des Chevreuils.

The use of phosphate-free products is recommended.

All measures outlined in the Urban Plan and regulations form an integral part of the Code (see Annex 1) and adherence thereto is essential.

Ensure accessibility

Motorized boats are allowed on this body of water.

Monitoring of visiting boats must be fully performed and rates fixed.  Accessibility for non-residents’ boats is managed by PRESERVATION LAC TREMBLANT NORD (PLTN).

Anchoring is only authorized in areas established by the Ville.  A 50, 000 square metre area of the bottom of the lake will be leased by the Ville for the anchoring of recreational boats.  The Ville de Mont-Tremblant will manage such operations.

All motorized boats should display the authorization sticker issued by Ville de Mont-Tremblant (issued annually).

Ensure tranquility

Regattas or other activities of this type may be permitted if they conform to the requirements and criteria as defined by the Ville.

As prescribed by the Regulations on Restrictions on Boating issued by the Government of Canada, the use of watercraft is prohibited

Noise management is subject to the Nuisance By-law (2003-53).

Ensure safety

To maximize safety on the lake, the maximum speed limit is 58 km / h outside the 60 meter distance from the shoreline, 10 km / h within 60 meters of the banks and in some specific areas, as indicated by the presence of buoys.
